Macbeth Gauge Glass

Macbeth Gauge Glass

Flat Glass for High-Pressure and High-Temperature Level Gage Applications

Macbeth Gauge Glass flat glass panel for level gages

Macbeth gauge glass is precision-manufactured flat glass designed specifically for use in reflex and transparent armored level gages. Available in borosilicate and tempered glass formulations, Macbeth glass provides reliable, long-service visibility in demanding process environments — including high-pressure steam, chemical, petrochemical, and power generation applications.

BOROSILICATE GAUGE GLASS — The standard choice for most process applications. Borosilicate glass offers excellent resistance to thermal shock, chemical attack, and mechanical stress. Suitable for service up to 600 PSI and 400°F. Available in reflex and transparent styles; transparent glass can be paired with Mica shields for caustic or acid service.

TEMPERED GAUGE GLASS — Recommended for applications subject to rapid temperature cycling or mechanical vibration. The tempering process increases surface compression strength and resistance to thermal shock. Rated to 400 PSI and 450°F. Available in reflex and transparent styles with optional Mica shield.

REFLEX vs. TRANSPARENT — Reflex glass features precision-machined prisms on the process side that cause liquid to appear black and vapor to appear silver, providing sharp contrast without an external illuminator. Transparent (plain) glass allows direct visual observation of liquid color, interface layers, and product clarity — ideal for applications where product appearance matters or where external illuminators are used.

REPLACEMENT GLASS — Macbeth gauge glass is available as replacement glass for NCI level gages as well as most other manufacturers' armored gage bodies. Custom sizes cut to order. Contact NCI with your gage body make, model, and glass dimensions for a direct replacement quote.
